About Lha
Lha is the Tibetan word for our innate nature of fundamental goodness. It describes the awakened state of mind, the Primordial Pristine Awareness.
Lha Social Work Organization (Charitable Trust) based in Dharamsala is a nonprofit organization founded in 1997 and is registered under the District Magistrate of Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, Government of India (Regd. No. 240, Regd. Year. 2005, Book No. 1) in 2005 as a Charitable Trust which serves as a vital resource center for the community. The primary goal of Lha is to provide meaningful multi-social services, such as education, skill training, health services and environmental management, as well as to facilitate an easy transition for the Tibetan refugee community and provide long-term rehabilitation resources.
The services of Lha are open to Tibetan refugees as well as the local Indian population and people from the Himalaya regions. Lha also offers tourists many volunteer opportunities, culture exchange, meditation, Yoga, Tibetan language courses, Tibetan cooking classes, Tibetan Art, and massage treatment/courses.

New Building

Lha is planning to purchase a new building in the coming months. As of yet, we are still short of funds to buy this new building, which will allow us to have bigger classrooms, more computers and rooms for yoga, reiki, massage, etc. Please have a look at New Building page or donate what you can to help us in this project.

For those heading to Dharamsala soon, Lha is looking for a webmaster who is knowledgeable in Drupal Web Program.
We are also always grateful for any professionals (doctors, nurses,Jounalist etc.) who would like to volunteer. We can set you up with another NGO in Dharamsala or arrange for you to give a lecture/workshop to the local Tibet community.
And, as always, English conversation teachers are always needed!!!!
